Welcome to my little world in cyber space. The purpose of my blog is to share the goodies I use in my second grade classroom with you. I'm currently in my eighth year of teaching second grade and I love every minute of it. I still can't believe that I get paid to do something I love so much. However, with that being said, I wish we got paid more.

I knew I wanted to become a teacher my very first day of Kindergarten (probably within the first five minutes too). So ever since then, I've spent my whole life preparing to teach. Throughout my elementary school years I would go home after school and transform myself into a teacher in my very own classroom (my parents actually turned our guest bedroom into a classroom).  I've worked hard to become a teacher (I have my Masters in Reading and am a National Board Certified Teacher as well) but I truly believe it's a God given gift, talent and passion.

I was born and raised in Wisconsin and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina after I graduated college. The main reason for moving (I bet you can guess) was the weather. I love the sun and hot temps, and Wisconsin didn't offer enough of that for me. Plus, North Carolina had a shortage of teachers at the time so it was relatively easy finding a job being a rookie. I'm still at the same school I started teaching at and couldn't be happier.  

Of course I met a southern gentleman shortly after moving here and he swept me off  my feet. We've been married for five years and have two children, Madelyn and Mason. I'm so thankful that God gave me such an amazing and supportive family.  Growing up, I never spent much time thinking about being a wife or mother because I was so obsessed with becoming a teacher, but I've learned that being a wife and mother are so much more fulfilling than being a teacher -- and you know how much I love teaching.   

In addition to loving my husband, children and job, I also love The Lord, shopping for bargains, getting a tan, running (which has almost become obsolete these days), reading Nicholas Sparks books, Skyping with my parents (they still live in Wisconsin), eating Mexican food and drinking a margarita.
